So the past few weeks has been full of workshops and working basically. The update on my knee/foot is still kinda screwed up but I can walk fine now it's just I can't put any weight on my knees of I were kneeling or twist my ankle a lot. Def seeing a doctor when I get home. But anywayssss it's been crazy. We had about 3 good snow falls but the last one we got over 40 cms leaving giant mountains of snow everywhere. The snow was so bad on that Friday I had to leave work early because the building was shutting down. It is so nice to see snow in Labrador, it brightens everything up and just gives a great vibe and good start to your day (unless you have to shovel) but we are lucky and our landlord plows our humungous driveway for us :).
For the past 3 weeks or so I've been planning the CCP project for our group. It was an event called "Out of the Cold" where donations from all over the community are brought to the Friendship Centre and on a specific day there was a soup luncheon and people from all over the community who are in need can pick what they want. Lots of planning, spreading the word and recieving donations and today it was a huge success. Last night we went over to sort the clothing, we recieved over 300 jackets, 300 hats, over 400 mitts/gloves, over 250 scarves, 30 snowpants, 80 pairs of boots and so many socks and sweaters. Sorting it all took just over 3 hours with 10 of us but by the end of it, it looks fantastic. The tables were set up for everything and everything was sorted by size and it was great. A few people from the hostel came in that night because they were going back home on the coast the morning after so that was great. This morning it was so nice to see Denises face shine after seeing what we did. Before 10 o'clock hit, we had a huge crowd waiting to get in and they a huge mad rush for 40 mintues and over half of it was gone. By the end of it we only had a few boxes left that were going to be donated to the church which they requested. After we debreifed and it felt good to jsut share what has happened and how much of an impact it made on the community and to see how much hard work pays off. Hopefully this event continues for a very long time because it was such a success and at this point it can only get bigger!
Our dayisn't over yet, were still going to go to the Santa Clauda parade to volunteer and do a Santa's workshop afterwards. Our whole day is packed but the busier we are, the faster time flies here. Like how crazy is it that there is only 6 more days until I'm back into reality?! And have my cellphone back! :D It's been weird in the hosue because I think more people are coming to realization of whats going to happen soon. It's so weird having to pack again, clean the house and go... the cry fest has started! My last day of work was great, I was on the front desk all week because Daphne had a week off and during the last break they had a cake for me, goodbye card and a few going away presents. I was also reassured to have a few great references and was given a reference letter which will be very useful in the future. Also after today Denise told me she would be honored to be a reference after all the hard work. She said some great things about me so I greatly appreciate it! Tomorrow is Spencers birthay and were going tobagganing, skating and having a Christmas supper Chelsea is preparing. We put up our Christmas tree even though were not staying here for Christmas but it's nice to be in the spirit as much as I don't feel like it's Christmas time yet. It's so weird because I remember summer like it was yesterday it's unreal.
Looking back on pictures today on my camera was a bit sad just looking at the St. Pierre house and stuff but soon it'll be the same but about Goosebay. I'll def miss the group and I seriously don't want to lose contact with people. On the way back were taking 3 planes, from goosebay to wabush, wabush to montreal then montreal to toronto. Martyna and I are the only ones from the group going from Montreal to Toronto together and the rest going to Ontario is going an hour later. Gonna be a sad sad day.
National Volunteer day was last week and our group made up 20 packages for companies around the community who are volunteer based like the SPCA and fire fighters. Each contains 20 cookies, 4 different types 5 of each, homemade ordiments, quotes, hotchocolate and more. Took all afternoon especially making over 400 cookies but it was great.
Every Sunday Chelsea and I go to the legion to play darts with people. I was reccomended to play in a dart league when I get back and I am seriously considering it. I love it and after we play pool with a few people from my work. Lot's of fun for an evening and only costs $2.50! 10 cents if you get under ten points and 1 dollar is someone gets a perfect score of 180. Never had to pay 10 cents yet ;)
The next week is going to be crazy even though we have no more work. We have debreifing activities and just so much stuff to do. This time during activities we def won't be drinking though but it is planned to have shots in Montreal! and Aidan is staying for a few extra hours before her parents come and get her :) I am really excited to go home and see people and stuff but super sad to leave this all. I breakdown thinking about it lol but life will be so different. I'm trying to make my time as occupied as possible so I don't stay at home bored or cry ahaha, but so far I have lots of things booked!
Anyways 6 more days, it's unreal and hasn't hit me fully but it won't be long before it will. Not too excited to pack but def not excited to leave this place. Seems like were finally getting comfortble here and were leaving :( Unforgettable memories for sure, and life long friends. Hopefully things go well, but so long for now!

One More Month :(
So were all back in the house and im glad to be back. Billeting was good and all but its just a better atmosphere in the katimahouse and i did miss people even though ive chilled with them through billetting a few times. My billet was nice but the hosue was just disgusting and there wasd barely any food but i lived with it and yeaah, im just glad to be back. i missed just spending time in the house talkijng, listening to music, playing card, just antything and laughing with everyone. These are some thigns im def going to miss when i go home for sureeee, its bad. def since i will be practically living alone, not having 10 other people around me is gonna suck.
The house vibe is good, kinda better then when we left but its getting better. Anyways there one more month and time is going to fly so quickly its very scary. Luckily 5 of us live in Ontario but its not going to be the same. I think were doing something for new years but martyna is going to cuba which is going tom suck but we will see what will happen. I am sad and all but i am also excited to go home because i know theere are all sorts of wonderful things waiting for me there and i do miss chilling with friends and MY CAT :(
Im just going to try and appreciate the next few weeks, our schedule is pretty packed and just enjoy events that are going to happen. my ankle and knee are gettin better but i limp if we walk fast or not at a comfortable pace butits slowly but surely gettin there. Im so glad we didnt have to do the 8 hour hike that was planned because of the weather but it still would have been nice if i was fully healed. The past few days have been chill in the house and weve only been preping for upcoming weeks and activities were going to be volunteering at. last night we went on a walk through goosebay and stopped in at stores and just fooled around, checked out stuff and just laughed. i really hope it can be like that or better when im home and we all chill again. there is talk about roadtripping to alberta with people and then going back to ontario but well see what happens and when i get money to do so. i am not looking forward to going back to work but i am looking forward to paycheck which i miss very much.
the sun is shining for the first time in probably a month and it is beautiful. it is always gloomy and grey here so this is a big treat. there is ultimate frisbee today but i wont be playing :( cant run yet but hopefully i can soon! anyways the cry fest will be starting soon but for now im just going to enjoy what is left. :(

its been a long time once again!
uggggh i know i havent been updating this as often as id like to been its been a little hard with the schedules and sharing a computer. anyways its been wuite a ride so far and the program is almost over :( just over a month to go and i ccant even picturing how its going to be after. So far weve done a good amount of things, but its def more chill then st. pierre was. theres not a lot to do around here and everything is a far walk away, for example tim hortons is 40 minutes away so its a bit harder. The weather is getting colder and colder but I thinknim used to it now it averages between -5 - 5 degrees so its not bad. It snowed mid october but didnt stay on the ground but for the past few weeks but only cms at a time. Its actually warmer when it snows so thats nice.
With the other group weve been doing some activities such as a competition day, trapline marathon and trick or eat. With the trapline we didnt really work together but we were at the same event doing different jobs. That night we slept in Labrador tents , some we built! and did night secruity in the park. My tent was the only one that didnt leak woooo and there was baby bear skin on the ground which was pretty neat. The next morning we had breakfast givin to us and then we were put into our spots to do road marshalling. At the group competition we organized an event where each group had to come up with 3 activities that we would both face each other in and a point was won at the end of each. Our activities were, ultimate frisbee, capture the flag and mini "minute to win it" games which included a cake off, flip cup, juice pong and trivia which we didnt end up getting to. Their activities were cheetos toss, jeperdy, and an obstacle course we didnt end up getting to. We ended up winning the competition which was great but it was a very fun day and the games were close. We did skunk them in ultimate frisbee and they kinda cheated with capture the flag so no points were handed out and they won at jepordy & cheetos toss but we won the other games :) ohhh and it was a tie for the cake off! All and all it was a good day and spencer and i were hosue managers that week so we had to do alot of cooking for everyone! we made homeade fries and chicken fingers! delish ! For the trick or eat it was an event that we went door to door aasking for canned foods to give to the local food bank, turned out to be a success! we also had the vans driving around picking up food so that it wouldnt be super heavy for everyone to be carrying, and people were divided into different sections so that was great, i had to be in one of the vans because of my leg :(
We went hiking at peace rock one day.. beautifulllll sights wow you could see the whole town plus more and the horizon for miles and miles but the hiking was very slippery and steep so i was taking my time but i did end up falling, one leg went forward and the other twisted back caught on a root and cracked my ankle and knee. Yeah it was as bad as it sounds I couldnt put any weight or anything not even my foot could touch the ground for a few days and we can no crutches! None of the pharmacys had any and I def didnt want to go to the hospital to wait for hours on end for the guy to play with it and tell me to get some rest and i didnt want it to be bad enough for a medical leave so i just ended up taking care of it very well (well try to
) and handle it on my own. The NWR ground ended up giving me crutches but they are about 3 inches too short but they still work out... better then holding on to the wall! my ankle and knee now is getting better to the point i can limp and walk without crutches but i try to use one to keep more of my weight off it so i dont over work it. theres been a few days ive walked without it but the next day i was in a lot of pain. it just sucks because its my knee too so its taking sooooo long to heal... well its only been over a week but still! theres snow! i want to enjoy! the people in my house have been super good to me though and its frustrating not being able to do things by myself but i know i have to keep off of it and wrap it.
anywayyssssss i was house manager with spencer and i think it was a great week. we worked very well together. we made awesome food including a ham! and we were like a $1.50 under budget so it was great! we kept the house super clean and mopped and sweeped soooooooooo many times a day because the hardwood is next to impossible to keep it clean! but i think it was great and we just blast cold play and city and colour all week so that was a plus :) the fall happened on the sunday of that week so martyna helped out with supper that night which was nice of her! but yeahh that week was pretty gooood
now im billeting for two weeks and thats with the vet! Becky is nice, lives with a roommate, 6 cats and a horse/great dane. Oh caant forget about the chickens! Henrietta 1,2,3, and 4. It nice just boring sometimes but during the week im tired anyways. Martyna and danielle came over once and got me out of bed the day i was feeling sick and we went over to gerards and aidans then to jungle jims for a bite to eat which was nice! they came over a few nights ago to play some wii which was nice and lowen was over last night to talk about stuff which was a nice surprised :) now lowen, gerard, martyna, aidan and danielle all live on the same street as me which is cool! tonight were going out to some bar and play pool and stuff so im excited to just get out of the house and do something! its so nice its friday! on the weekend becky and i are going to dinner and a movie which is nice, she also took me out to breakfast the first morning i was there. we also had to get up early and do a puppy run to the airport from the SPCA so i was tired but the puppies were cute and yeaaah. billetting beeen good def a huge change from last time but no complaints. the dog is massive and finally listens to me but at first he would just bark at me so it sucks. i try not to wak with my crutch in the house cuz the dog will just knock me over sooo yeaaah. two weeks of billeting and one is done already! one more week then one month until home! its crazy
i def do have days where im homesick and just want to see people but then i have days where i dont want to go home and i just wished the program was longer. i might not miss working but ill def miss the people. weve been living as a group basically a family and it def sucks to be leaving :( uggggghhhhhh but o well im just going to try and make the best out of it while im still here
ohhhhhhh yeaaaaahh and it was my 19th birthday last weeek :D the group made it nice, claudia made me a nice cake and everyone sang to me and such :) that night we were volunteering at a haunted house so everything was pretty late but i was in tears when they did it. my mom sent me a box of goodies with a car, my work got me a card and cake, GAAABB sent me a crd which made me cry at work i was so happy :D theres still some cards in the mail im waiting to recieving and once again sophie out did herself to the extreme way more then i expected and got me leafs tickets and a fuckin ipod that she filled up with music. i was in complete shock, first i was like ohhh man now i have to upload this thing with no computer but it was all done:) def one of the best presents ever but all the emotion i can show really is anger because of the money she spent! but i was super happy on the inside to the point i was in tears. the whole present itself was amazing and the letters super sappy but thats just how it is now a days :P but i loved it, seriously! and IF YOURE READING THANK YOU SO MUCH I LOVE YOU!!! <3 :)
also got some phone calls which made me happy and just had a good birthday i guess :) now that im legal i still havent had a legal drink but theres plenty of time for that anyways
thats all i have to say for now wow this was long but ill try to update more often :) at my billet house im using a tiny tiny little netbook its hard to use but its managable, anyways hope everyone is having a good time where ever they are!

Goosebay!
So its been about a week and a half since weve been here and I think I can say that we are all settled in. The work partner tours and itnerviews are done, people have worked their first week of work (which can i say was fucking long as shit) but im glad they are over. A lot has happened of course of the past week or so such as oreintation things, figuring out new positions for KCC meetings, job placements, volunteering, just everything. We even had a tour of North West River the other community about 30 mins away where the st.B people well now NWR people are staying. NRW is beautifulllll but super tiny but Goosebay is awesome too. The only thing that sucks is that everything is so sparse and a long ass walk. Everyone gets rides to work which isnt far but most placements are in the valley. I work at the Labrador Friendship Centre which has a hostel, youth programs, seniors program, just a whole bunch of things and so much happening so I am always running around doing eveyrhting really. The first few days I was training on reception and I learnt it in about 10 mintues so they put me by myself there and everyone was shocked so I basically covered for the secretarys sick day off. First week work was fun, I work with Spencer Mondays and Tuesdays and he works at Birch Brook the rest of the days.
This weekend we were helping out with a marathon and we marshalled and directed traffic. Last night we had to build old fashion labrador tents out of 8 foot poles we cut down in a forest earlier this week. Each tent had a stove in them with a pipe going out and it was pretty cool. The tent we had had bear skin on the ground it was pretty neat but we had to stay there during the night to do nightshift secruity so nobody ruins the tents and shit. Tomorrow were going to NWR to the other Katimavik house for a huge thanksgiving dinner, all we have to bring isthe turkey and stuffing oh and gravy but im sooooo glad im not hosue manager for that lol Aidan had to make 10 loaves of bread just for the stuffing alone! But yeaaaah the week after this one im hosue managing with Spencer which is siiiiiiccckk!
For KCC i was in activities commitee and not on council but this time around im in languages and im chair person! the head of everything! it was between lowen and I and I won by one vote it was a suppppperrrr close call but i was so surprised i won but im glad anyways :)
hjmmmmm what else to sayyyy uhhhhh just livin the life, our house is wayyyyy smaller only one floor we used to have 3 floors and so much room but the only place to go is on the deck or living really but its a newer hosue which is nice but its cozy i like it. I like the town and everything, theres a hgue difference between labrador and newfoundland for sure but overall im liking it bigggg time! a lot of people here are oringally from newfoundland so thats really nice
so far our journey here has just stared and weve been busy everyday doing different things but i like how that is so its not boring. Today we volunteered but the rest of the day we have off since like 1:30pm so its nice to have a break. ohhh and theres a timmys, subway, a&w and actually things here so its nice :) thats all for now but ill be back with more when i get more

We Made It!!!!
Ohhhhhh man what a past few days it has been. Packing and getting the house ready on Monday and Tuesday was already depressing enough as it is... but this was next to torture. I know I am a huge baby and all but like I have grown close to so many people I just cannot describe it. I am so lucky to have these people in my life it is crazy. tearing down all the posters in the house, papers we wrote and stuck to the wall and just cleaning the whole house was heartbreakig because we have so many memories in the house its insane, and it doesnt hit you until the worst moment.
JD and I had to make the last supper and also make a supper for the next group coming so we decided to make a shit load of spaghetti and meatballs which turned out in a success. Sitting at the table for the last time was just brutal becaused we knew that it was our last offical supper in the house. At this point I didnt even start packing and I was waiting on another load of laundry to be done. I bawled my eyes out at the table which got Martyna crying also and it was sad but we were all trying to stay positive. I finished packing at around 8ish and we all decided to watch a movie together and make popcorn... I ended up passing out and took a powernap then I got woken up to come out to see the Northern lights in the sky at the park. It was beautiful, truly amazing and def a great goodbye gift. We we got back to the house it was around 1 am and we gave Gab her card and gifts along with it. Biggggesssttt cry fest like ommmmmmmmmmmgg but we found out she was coming to the airport with us so that was pretty amazing. Doing my last rounds in the house was painful but at the same time it was great just remembering the memories and I just thought how grateful I was to live in such a great place. I was in such a cry mood I wanted to sit and just bawl my eyes out, it was pretty bad.
We listened to our fav songs on the bus on the way back but before getting on the bus we had like 10 mintues of silence just standing outside of the house... not forced it just happened, everyone was so sad. We were off to the St. Boniface house to pick up the other group and Colin was there too. The airport was fuucking depressing and we had to wait 2 and a half hours until our flight. Gab left around 3:30 and another cryfest happened it was crazy. She gave us each a letter written to us and after she left she said we could open it so I did and she just made my heart melt. I am so lucky so have such a great PL like her she really changed me.
Anyways the first plan ride to Toronto was a bit long but I didn't sleep, we got in at 8:34am and Soph met up with me to chill for a bit and say goodbye for a third time :( first time I didnt cry! surprising,... maybe I was just so tired or iuno but I am so happy she came to visit me and I am so lucky to have such a great friend. Her letter to me was intense but I loved every moment of it.
First flight I watched Super 8.. got bored of it but then by that time came the flight was over. The flight to Halifax was a bit shorter and I tried to watch that x men movie but it was longer then the flight so I couldnt finish it,. We arrived in Halifax at around 12:30ish and had to wait until 4:20ish cuz our flight was delayed so we got somethign to eat and kinda just chilled. Got the best massage from Stefan :D:D hes the bessst for that :) Kinda just chilled with everyone and yeah we were all exhausted but we made it through. The last flight was a tiny little shitty plane you had to walk on and like bend down because the plane was so tiny but it went by fats and I almost past out then.
Getting to Goosebay was so weird the airport was soo shitty but we met our PL and we took our luggage to the van using the katimavik van so we had to make two trips. Our house is way smaller then the last but newer and nice. The beds are nicer and actual matresses and not leather things. Way comfier andddd we got a closet this time !!! :D:D but yeah Martyna, Danielle and I share a room again,,, different arrangements but yeah,. Right now its chills and I put away all my stuff and im good and all settled but its still kinda weird. We all miss gab and st, pierre soooooo much its insane but theres so much thats gonna happen here so im kinda glad theres a bit of a change.. well theres a HUGEEE change here, its way different and i dont know what to think yet i barely saw the town yet. We read our welcome packages from the other group and they all seem cool. We actually met up with a few people were switching hosues with at the halifax airport and it was cool just chatting for a bit.
One thing I can def say is Labrador is nothing like Newfoundland they are two different places and totally different, even the people here hate it when you call them Newfies because they arent. But for now things are good and ohhhh yeah nooo cellphone reception because no rogers up here so no phone :( i can recieve calls on our phone though for free and were getting the wifi password but i dont even have my laptop anymore because i sent it back soooooo whateves. its good in a way to be disconnected a bit more and do my own thing but at the same time like AHHHH
sooo many memories to come and tonight is the first night to our second half of katimavik, time is just flying by like wowwwww, but up at 9 tomorrow, im one hour ahead of toronto time but 2 hours ahead of the time im used to so its a bit weird but yeahhhhh thats all for now be back with more when i have some.

One more sleep :(
I can't believe it. The time has come already for us to clean the house and pack. Time is just flying by so fast I barely have time to cry about it... could be a good thing but I know I'll be exploding when we have to get on that coach bus at 1:30am. The past weeekend we finished out last day of work and got ready for our camping trip for debreifing our rotation. We stayed at Ferns cottage which was great but we didnt have to pay and his place is beautiiiiifulll. We all had places to sleep which didnt involve being in tents but niceeee guest houses or trailers and the set up was amazing, nothing like ive ever seen before. There was outhouses but they were so properly cleaned up and sinks outside as well that you barely realized it was an outhouse. We had many activities which teams of two and Gab prepared and schedules for whos cooking and whos doing the dishes. I had to make breakfast with Spencer on Sunday morning which turned out pretty amazing. We prepared so much on friday so it was easy to do. The only thing about eating was all the flis and wasps outside that wouldnt leave you alone but we dealt.
The activities were great and I was teamed up with Martyna and we were the last group to go. I feel like our activities reached to people and actually had meanng behind it so im glad. On our free ime we relaxed, had fires, roasted plenty of marshmellows and partied. The partying was super fun and on saturday it really got interesting but no regrets at all. Let's just say I was the beer pong champ and undefeated while everyone else was almost naked :P Bets were interesting but funnn aswell. It was def a time I will never forget. I had a heart to heart with Martyna on friday night then with Lowen on saturday night and I am so glad. I just want our group to be strong and really... it is.
On Sunday was Martynas birthday and we celebrated for that during the day and after at supper too because Spencer made her a birthday cake and Gab bought her gelato from Bigway. Danielle and Mellisa made baked Zitti which was amazing and was requested by Martyna and everything else was just chilll. I fell asleep at around 10 that night bcause I was just so exhausted from the weekend. It really does suck that time flies by so fast like look at it now one more sleep and we will be leaving this place.... I can barely keep my cool thinking about it.
So much has happened here and so many memories I kinda regret not updating this as often but at the same time I liked being away from the computer a lot. I was pissed in the beginning that Gab wouldnt give us the wifi password but after I realzed how much that actually boughtthe group together. Most people has laptops so everyone would have been in their own litle bubble skyping, facebooking, etc all the time. Weve done so much and we went to Winnipeg so many times and I appreciate every factor of it. Even the fact my bestfrend came out to see me was amazing. Actually putting the ime into planning the trip, paying and coming ou here like wow. being in my Katimavik house and my community.. that is something not a lot of people get to experience. Billeting was amaziing and the fast Marinus came out to chill one last time on Thursday was great. Lucky Lucs had like a dirty bingo going on at the bar and we both won something which was sper fun :) but also super sad we went to our last wing night and game night. All the times with the other groups was amazing even though some of them are a bit wierd weve all grown to like each other. Well never see Stienbach again and well be seeing St. B at the airport but who knows after that. Everyone is going to their own community which in our case is going to be bigger but way up north and we have no idea what to expect. I am seriously excited but at the same time I am missing this place sooooooooo much and I haven't left yet.
A lot of things have been bugging me lately, mostly in my mind I always think that it is stupid or retarded but I don't think it is anymore. It's mostly about things back home and I just miss friendships and people a lot. Annnd my cat :( but seriously. So many things has happened and my mind has been all over the place but like... I don't even know what I want. Eveythings been so confusing and one minute I'll think something and the next will be the total oppisite but it is kinda hard to let go of something that is a huge part of you... or pretend to anyways. I can barely say anyhing because it will change other peoples opinions on things but it's also just hard for me. I miss being close with people and I hate having to rely on one person. I know I am away so it is hard for anyone including me but I wanna fix it.
Anyways my trvael schedule is pretty intense and is goes something like this:
Leave the house at 1:30am picked up by beaver coach bus
dunno when we getting to airport but flight is at 5:15am
getting to toronto at 8:34ish am, leaving for halifax at 10am
getting to halifac at around 12-12:30pm, leaving for goosebay at around 4pm

I guess this is it for now, St. Pierre Jolys you've been amazing to me, our party was great and just everything. Manitoba is more then you would expect even just the skies alone are beautiful. Bye for now , i'll update when I'm in Happy Valley Gooseba, Labrador ... how crazy is that? :D:D:D:D
