HOUSES!

Soooo there is this one guy on youtube CURRENTLY documenting his journey through katimavik and he has the same placements as me so that gives me a slight advantage to see what the communities are like and what the houses look like! The only updates on the youtube channel is for St. Pierre Jolys so far so here is a link to see the house in the day time and one at night and inside of the house.

Good News!

There was apparently a mistake when sending out the first selections email and they forgot to add in the second location (which I was bummed about) I called to check out my criminal record check/vulnerable sector check instrustions and they tolddddddd me when I asked! :D For now I am waiting on the instructions in an email to tell me how to do the rest buttt shortly after I guess they fixed the problem and sent out a second email with the corrections.

OFFICIAL PLACEMENTS = ST. PIERRE JOLYS, MANITOBA & GOOSEBAY, NEWFOUNDLAND & LABRADOR!

My parents were more exctied about the second one obivously, and I still think they have no clue what I'm going to be doing..... but whatever that's not the point, it's for me and my experience so im stoooooooked!

One girl commented on facebook saying how Goosebay is soooooooooo fun and such and I'll have a blast! I really hope so. I am going to make the best out of anywhere anyways just I have never been to either of these places before so that adds to the surprise! I have sseen pictures of both houses and I am still excited. Still only the same two on facebook I have found, and nobody else. Seems like people either don't go on facebook or have no clue about the Katimavik page. Who knowwws.. but there are lots of people I notice they start in Goosebay first and then St. Pierre Jolys sooo well probably be meeting, or groups in places like St. Boniface Manitoba and thi other place in Labrador. Like I said WHO KNOWS!

All I can do right now is wait on instructions so I can get the paper work done ASAP! Sooner the better!

This thing is really screwed up... & SELECTIONS!

Okay first of all I went on here to update everything but I found out there were like 3 different blogs? And my previous post from April 8th didn't show up but when I went on the other ones it did but when I click dashboard to go back to the main page they all bring me back to the same thing and same email.... ITS FUCKED! So hopefully this is the last time I have to screw with this like that because this is the second time.. it happened with my first attempt of blogging.

ANYWAYSSSS

I thought today was the day I was going to find out where I was going to be placed but I found out LAST NIGHTTT when i got home at around 11pm ish. I guess they send it out all at once and it must of been midnight in Newfoundland or something so lucky me and others got it a little ahead of time! Officially Group 31107! The second I saw that, it hasn't left my mind! The thing that was kind of dissapointing is that we only found out one out of two locations but whateves I'm not complaining!

First location is St. Pierre Jolys Manitoba! I find this a coinsidence because when I was watching youtube videos on Katimavik and seeing what the life was really like, I was following a guy that was in the same house I am going to be in! So I have an idea of what the town is like along with what the house looks like. It's oldddd but beautiful. Must be 4 stories and it takes up a corner lot... I think... and right across from the villages' only gorcery store and the bar! Wooo! Another good thing.. DRINKING AGE IS 18 IN MANITOBA! I know I shouldn't be super excited like what if somebody from Katimavik sees this and thinks I'm some sort of alcoholic or something... WHICH IS NOT TRUE! haha Oh well his first night their group went to the bar so hey, I'm not the only one.

Soooooooo right after I found out my group number and such I saw a bunchhhh of people posting on the facebook wall trying to find their group and I swear I can match everyone with their group because I saw so many of the same numbers! But good news! I found two people, Martyna and Spencer, both from Ontario so that must mean there is one more person out there and the rest is from other provinces/territories. Martyna goes to Western so we probably have some sort of mutual friends? Not sure yet, and Spencer is from Brantford so not too far from here. It seems like there are the same faces on the facebook wall looking for people and the rest don't give a shit or don't use a computer lol Wellllll seee it's only the first day technically.

So every group found out their numbers except Horizons which should be sometime today or tomorrow. I can tell Becky is freaking out and can't wait to find out! I would be in the same boat. There are also a lot of people who are as confused as I am in regards to recieving one and of two placements, except the active learning groups that is, just being one location. I guess we find out later on or they haven't got that far in placing groups in locations.. who knowsss

Soooo my full acceptance is conditional to:

- Payment of the $350 deposit - Check
- Payment of the $150 insurance fee - Check
- Medical Dossier completion - Check
- Criminal record and something something check - Still Pending
- Completion of some forms to be signed and returned - Still Pending

anddd.... I think that's it because those items still pending I recieved last night. Also for the Criminal Record check and such I don't think it will be a problem since I don't think I have a criminal record... should hope not! haha but people in large cities like Toronto has to call the volunteer office and find out how to do it so I will be doing that today to see what's up.

P.S DID I MENTION... the "town/village" has a population of 893?!?!! Holy shit son there were more people in my highschool then that! One gorcery store, one school, I guess you can guess the rest. Over 70% French speaking population! I'm screwed.. lol but for this little village they have a pretty big website. The village is mainly Catholic/Christian too so that should be interesting. I'm kinda glad I got put to a place like Manitoba though since I've never actually been there, just flew over. It's about half an hour away from Winnipeg and I think 40km away from the US border so this place is pretty south. So I'm assuming flight to Winnipeg then coach it to St. Pierre Jolys. Is it weird I'm not excatly sure how to say the last word? tat's how bad my French is...

But yes that is my exciting news of figuring out my group number and such. Hopefully I meet more people online but you never know. I'm off to call Katimavik!

Back with more news soon.

Was Suppost to be April 8th

Well well, to get this thing started.. its main purpose is to document my Katimavik experience before, during and after but I think my life in these periods is important too. Anywayssss, life has been the same but I guess just fading more on the social side. Work has effected this but I think my lack of effort and others is the main purpose. Honestly I think I am falling apart from most people I used to be close friends with. One little thing said completely ruins a good pattern of simple things of chilling, talking, etc. This really makes you think deeper oon whos real and what really matters. I can't really blame other people because I know if I did, I would be a hipicryte because there are others that I have pushed away for no good reason. I guess it's true when they say "you don't know what you have until it's gone."

Work was tiring at first because I was booked to work 9 days straight all starting at noon or 1. This sounds great becaue of the starting time but you have to understand when working in the restaurant business, that time is lunch AND dinner rushes. Including prep for both which is a rush and a half if people of yorkdale decide to never stop eating or the lineups never end. But recently I've been getting crappy hours, like 2 or 3 days a week which is not good for the bank slash my pocket especially if I want to save up before leaving for Katimavik. Don't get me wrong Milestones is great and all, working in a high-class restaurant, the people, discountssss but it's a lot of fucking work, aaaalot of work and if something isn't done, you are FUCKED especially if it's the weekend or just a busy ass day. Especially if you are working with a slacker and your list needsss to be done and it is like a 5 person job... def does not help. Anyways I do have enough money and a bit to buy a bike which I am really excited about especially to get this exercise thing going. I am not a fan of running and biking is something I actually do enjoy so I am looking forward to it.

I could bitch about work forever but I don't think it's that worth it meeeh work tomorrow at 12! It's money right

I'm getting really excited about Katimavik especially after hearng I was accepted on the first round of selection. I honestly thought there was going to be only one round of selection and that was my only chance of proving myself to be worthy but there are about 4. I am just glad I was chosen first. One thing that bugged me though was a comment from someone saying something along the lines of "oh you did it, without any other help or anything.." like what the hell is that suppost to mean? A compliment? Just because you barely know shit about the program and hear of a family friend dealing with it does not mean you can help me get into anything. That is impossible anyway because the chance of everyone getting in is equally if the application is done correctly and you don't come off as a complete retard. Honestly I can't believe Becky got rejectled 4 times or whatever before being accepted... like seriously? Could it be that bad? Could it be her lack of common sense or is it the spelling thing? I swear that girl cannot spell for shit. I mean I can be a pretty bad speller at times but like when is there ever like a Q or M in something like "alcohol"? Get real comon.

Wellll after being accepted the enxt step was paying the fees and havng the medical assesment. The fees weren't a problem but I wanted to pay them ASAP thinking, it was first come first serve! This made me nervous, as well as the doctor part because it means a full examination to fill out something like 9 pages of documents!  Like gheeez, and I read from other people posting on the Katimavik facebook page that they had to pay over 100 or 200 $$$$ for theirs! What the hell... I paid 20.. weird isn't it? At first my doctor didn't even mention a price but he though it was just some bullshit and did a basic basic exam, weighed me and told me to come back over the weekend and gave me incomplete forms ..-_- like comon now, these forms are pending on my full acceptance to a program I've been wanting to participate in for soooo long now and you treat it with this amount of respect?! Thanks a lot..

So the dates are comin up to when we find out our group numbers and where we are going! First can I mention I missed a phone call from Katimavik one night while I was out about a week ago and I haven't received another call, AND my homephone doesn't have an answering machine because my moms smart like that. I really didn't want to call backa nd deal with the  press 1, press 2, automated shit so maybe if it was that important they would call back? I'm thinking it was my French assessment which I would of completely failed anyways but if they decided to form groups before doing this, hopefully they assume I have no French knownledge at all so that I'm not the only one in the group....

So now it is officially 4 days until I know which kinda makes me nervous because what if they send me an email saying something like,, ohh sorry try again next year. IT COULD HAPPEN! But to be honest I would keep trying until I was 21, and never tell anyone how many times I've tried and make it glorious all to myself if I do get fully accepted. I should be fully accepted right now right? I guess we'll see upcoming Tuesday! fingers crossed.

My application must be moving smoothly since they have recieved all payments, and such. I tried to be smart when an allumi called me the one time seeing if I had any questions about the program that I wanted answered (but knowing me and have done all my research) I kind of made up questions to make myself seem interested into the program and try to get some sort of checkmark on her secretive scoreboard to say "oh yes shes the one she should get accepted!" Any little thing helps!

Anyways this has been a mumble rant about random things but I have to end this since I have to sleep, shower and be at work in less than 11 hours... seems like a lot but I loooove my sleep. I realize during the program that will probably change but I am going to take advantage of this while it lasts.

Goodnight
